Kathryn Campbell, senior public servant in Robodebt scheme, resigns from Department of Defence
Senior public servant Kathryn Campbell has resigned from the Department of Defence after coming under heavy criticism for her role in the Robodebt scandal.
Ms Campbell was suspended from her role on the AUKUS advisory panel in the aftermath of the Robodebt royal commission's final report.
Ms Campbell was the head of the department that was responsible for the illegal program.
The royal commission was scathing of her role in the saga saying: "When exposed to information that brought to light the illegality of income averaging, she did nothing of substance."
After coming to power, the federal Labor government quietly moved Ms Campbell from her role as the head of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade into the AUKUS role, which paid about $900,000 a year.
