COVID lockdowns favoured professionals, while low-income casuals hit hardest, says ABS

 More than 40 per cent of employed Australians worked from home in August.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics surveyed workers over six days in the middle of the month, when New South Wales, Victoria and the Australian Capital Territory were all in lockdown.

While working from home has become just about normal for some occupations since the onset of COVID-19, ABS data showed it had been growing in popularity before 2020.

Two years ago, 32 per cent of workers regularly did their job from home, at least some of the time.
