The 12 Dirtiest Places in the Home (and How to Clean Them)

Image
The dirtiest places in the home are often everyday spots that collect germs without us noticing, making regular cleaning essential for a healthier space. Kitchen sinks, sponges, chopping boards, and fridge handles accumulate bacteria from food prep, while bathroom areas like toilet flush buttons, shower curtains, and toothbrush holders stay damp and attract microbes. High touch items such as phones, remotes, switches, and door handles also need frequent attention because they are handled constantly. Cleaning these areas with warm soapy water or a suitable disinfectant, followed by proper drying, helps reduce germs effectively. Replacing worn sponges, washing fabrics often, and sanitizing small items regularly can keep these hidden hotspots cleaner and maintain a fresher living environment. Top 10 Mistakes Tenants Make During Bond Cleaning

Image
Many tenants unintentionally make mistakes during bond cleaning that lead to inspection issues and possible deductions, often because they overlook small but important details. Rushing through the clean can leave behind grime in hidden areas like skirting boards, window tracks, and behind appliances. Tenants also forget to deep clean ovens, showers, and carpets, which are closely checked by property managers. Outdoor spaces, walls with minor marks, and light fittings are often missed as well. Some rely only on surface cleaning without matching the condition report, which can create disputes. Poor planning or cleaning before fully emptying the home adds to the problem. By preparing early and paying attention to every corner, tenants can avoid these common mistakes and achieve a smoother bond return. Even without Trump's tariffs, Australian farmers are losing out on billions of dollars

Image
When Donald Trump announced the US would impose a blanket tariff of 10 per cent on Australian imports earlier this year, a commotion ensued. The president's so-called "liberation day" sent a wave of grievance through the farm sector, having not-long emerged from years of punitive trade disruptions imposed by China. The prospect of an importing nation charging an additional tax threatened a major hit to the hip pockets of those trading into the world's largest economy (by GDP) and, in turn, its markets. Kindergarten parents told to pay thousands for kids' art - sparking uproar and a midnight heist

Image
That's the question one Australian kindergarten posed to dozens of families this week when it asked them to stump up A$2,200 (£1,000; $1,400) for the pleasure of taking home a curated portfolio of their child's artwork. The folders included many a random blob and splodge, alongside happy snaps of the would-be Picassos making creations only a parent could love. Billed as a fundraiser, the debt-ridden centre said the money from the portfolios would go towards whittling down a long list of overdue bills, including unpaid wages for educators. Craigslea Community Kindergarten and Preschool in Brisbane closed last month after funding was halted amid an investigation into claims about its governance.
