Seven men who were arrested yesterday after a dramatic operation in Sydney's south-west and released today without charge plan to sue NSW Police for damages. Their lawyer Ahmed Dibb said the group, the youngest of whom was just 18, claim they were unfairly targeted and want to set a precedent that no other group receives the same treatment. Two of their cars were damaged after being rammed during the arrest on the corner of George and Campbell streets in Liverpool yesterday, but it is understood the lawsuit will go beyond that. New monthly inflation data shows jump from 3.6pc in September to 3.8pc in October

  Inflation jumped to 3.8 per cent in October, up from 3.6 per cent in September. The largest contributors to annual inflation were housing (+5.9 per cent), food and non-alcoholic beverages (+3.2 per cent), and recreation and culture (+3.2 cent). This is the first release of the complete Monthly Consumer Price Index (CPI) from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). Michelle Marquardt, ABS head of prices statistics, says it marks the transition from the traditional quarterly CPI to the complete monthly CPI as Australia's primary measure of headline inflation. Queensland GPs to be able to diagnose adults with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder from December 1

  General practitioners in Queensland will have the ability to diagnose attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in adults and prescribe medication, in an Australian first. The changes will come into effect from December 1 and expand the scope of specialist GPs in Queensland, who can currently prescribe ADHD medication for patients from 4 to 18 years old.
